Marty,
You need Cheney hose clamps. The vintage Jaguar (XKE) folks have Cheney everywhere. You might start there. Sorry we weren't able to meet each other.

Marty:
Of course it was great to see you and Blair at Carmel. Had a great time. Wish you guys lived closer so we could get together socially more often. How did an ugly guy like you get such a nice, pretty wife?
I am in withdrawal, now. The exhibitor benefits were faaaannntastic!! We have to figure how to get in the show again next year. Maybe we can enter the same cars with fudged serial numbers.
We could partner in a new car; you buy it and I'll drive it. I'll even pay for the gas! Maybe a nice 308 GTB. They are not that much money. Rob Sheehy has a nice Mondial he is selling. Don't particularly care for those, unfortunately.
Got to keep working on this!

Paul,
My car is s/n 14771 (it's in the registry!), manufactured Dec. 1971, which would make it a '72 to most people, but it has always been titled as a '71.
And Tom, thanks for the info on the Cheney--even in this election year I will try to rise above politics and buy the proper clamps, whatever their political affiliation....
And BTW, I have a post Carmel/Monterey message for each of you. Tom: great seeing you again, congrats on the award and your car looks (and sounds) tremedous--Blair and I really enjoyed our time hanging out with you and Richard (and Timo and Jarni, of course)--it was a lot of fun. Paul: dang it! I was looking forward to meeting you and thanking you in person for all the great work you have done for the Daytona community with this blog. Heard you were at Concorso (we, sadly, were not).
Looks like we'll just have to plan on attending next year.
Thanks for the help guys!

Marty:
I believe, from a perusal of the parts book, that the clamps are Cheney 162/S (19 to 41 mm). That is what my car has; mine is a November '72 car, SN 16333.
I did not see a change in that designation through all updates to the parts book I have. Of course, with Daytonas, we know there were lots of variations!

Gas Tank Connector Hose Clamps

Hey guys,
Anybody know the correct clamps for the two hoses that run between the connector pipe and the two gas tanks? We're replacing my hoses and my mechanic thinks the current clamps are incorrect. He tells me he's found and ordered the correct hose type (bet I'll hear back from people more knowledgeable than me who'll say that this is impossible, that nobody has the correct hose material anymore--I am prepared to be abashed), but the correct clamp is still a mystery to us.
Why bother with correct clamps on
my
car, you ask? Well, if we're gonna get to 100 pts we gotta start somewhere....
Thanks,
Marty
